Summer Salon

AWA’s Summer Salon is a forum for bringing the research of global Africans to the community, about issues relevant to Africa and its Diaspora, in an informal, relaxed setting.

Status of Women

Every year at the United Nations, New York, USA, the Commission on the Status of Women “CSW” studies specific issues that relate to the lives and conditions of women and girls.

African Women’s Alliance, Inc. (AWA) was formed in 1997 by women from various non-governmental organizations at the United Nations in New York, NY. AWA was incorporated in 2001, and has the 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Membership is non-religious, non-political, broad-based and not limited to women. AWA’s women come from the Continent of Africa, and African Diaspora worldwide, and our programs reflect our interest in the Continent of Africa, the Caribbean, North and South America. We participate in international, and other conferences to represent African viewpoints, and gather information to ascertain fact.
